RE: Investment Tax Credits
Dear Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland,
The Millwright Regional Council – Canada (MRC) and its affiliate Locals across the country, are writing to share our support for the Investment Tax Credits and the labour requirements tied to them.
The Investment Tax Credits for various green technologies included in the 2022 Fall Economic Statement and 2023 Budget support not only employers/industry, but also workers. Your Government’s commitment to table one of the strongest definitions of prevailing wage Canada has ever had is lauded by the Millwright Regional Council. The prevailing wage and apprenticeship requirements will ensure that Canadians are receiving the maximum value for these tax credits, supporting all workers, their families and Canada’s greater economy. We are making sure our members recognize the support and benefits of these tax credits through various communications.
The MRC is looking forward to working with government to see strong legislation on the Investment Tax Credits that include prevailing wage based upon union compensation and apprenticeship targets tabled this fall.
Thank you for your support of Canadian workers and industry in meeting our net zero targets.
